Going out in DLF Cyber City, Gurgaon, India

DLF Cyber City is the heart of Gurgaon nightlife. This modern area is bustling with bars and restaurants. It is like entering a different world. The DLF  Cyber Hub is mostly visited by professionals working for international companies operating in the Gurgaon area. The entire area is non-smoking, this includes open-air areas as well which is extremely strict. If you want to have a smoke you have to leave the whole area through the parking lot and smoke on the streets. Same goes for public drinking, however you can happily drink at the bars and restaurants. I guess they just want to prevent people hanging out on the bench and drinking their own beers out of a paperbag.

Since I am obsessed with craft beer and micro breweries the first pub I visited was the Quaff microbrewery.  In general any bar or restaurant in DLF Cyber City plays music extremely loud. So no talking to the barman which is kind of problematic when you are all alone in the pub… I am unsure how people can talk to each other though. Thankfully the quality of their beer compensated me very well for the loud environment.  I tried their Blond Ale which is a perfect summery beer, look at that beauty 🙂

They brew the following beers…

…and of course all of those are on tap.

At this point my Indian friend showed up and took me to a different bar, hence I wasn’t able to try the rest of the brews. We went to bar called social which is more of a cocktail bar/dance club setup. Also loud music, mostly cocktails served, no craft beer unfortunately.

I had no reason to complain though as I was given a really, truly, massively, long island ice tea. The bar was very busy we had to wait about 30 minutes to get a table. By the time we were seated people were already dancing on the dance floor and in front of the bar.

Needless to say that this drink got me really hungry so we went across to Soi 7 Microbrewery serving Thai food.

I had a Chow Mein ( not Thai food I know.. ) and a few of their brews.

It is kind of disappointing that everything shuts down around midnight so unfortunately that was the last place we could visit. I have taken a few more photos and headed home.

If you are are after western style bars and restaurants, DLF Cyber City is the place to be. If you are after authentic local restaurants this is not your place to be. If I was backpacking in India I would pick this place to take a break, hang out for a night, have a good meal, enjoying a little bit of Western normalcy before going back to the hectic life on the streets.
