Thailand: Koh Samui Mae Nam Beach 2011

“Mae Nam is known for it’s 7km stretch of beach. The beach has white sand and is lined by coconut trees. The sea is typically calm, however there is a moderate drift and the water is not usually clear. Mae Nam actually means river, ‘mae’ meaning mother and ‘nam’ water. ”

This above is what wikitravel is saying on Mae Nam Beach… to be completely honest with you we were trying to locate this quiet beauty several times. All we could find were hotels and no road down to the beach. We drove down to Laem Phra Lan Port and tried to chill on the beach close to that but it was so quiet and no facilities that we decided to leave. If this was the Mae Nam beach? I do not know but it was quiet enough 🙂

There is also a small backpacker area in Mae Nam ( first traffic lights in Mae Nam then take the right from the direction Bo Phut ). You can also go down to the beach from here but at the time of visit there were many constructions in the area making the beach dirty as hell.

This is where Mae Nam Beach is supposed to be:
