You can book this trip virtually anywhere in Vang Vieng, even restaurants offer travel services. The most important part is the price again. You can find the same trip for 90.000 Kip as well as for 55.000 Kip or less. Just shop around, ask your hotel reception and try to find the best price available.
We booked this through our hotel and paid 55.000 Kip / person. Now this was one of the worst bus trip we ever had. They sent a shitty minibus to pick us up at the hotel, transferred an other hotel where a bigger bus in even worse condition was waiting. They crammed the maximum amount of people into the bus so needless to say the trip was very uncomfortable not to mention the road conditions. Roads are a lot better up in the mountains than around the capital city.
It took around 3 and a half hours to get to Vientiane. The disappointing fact was the the minibus dropped us off at a bus station which was about 3-4km from the city center. We had to pay an additional 15.000 Kip to get to the center of Vientaine…
