Mad Scientist Craft Beers @ Szimpla Kert

A few weeks late but I managed to make it to Szimpla Kert to check out the new c(k)raft beer section run by one of the best Hungarian craft brewery called the “Mad Scientist”. They have taken over that part of the pub permanently.  The name of this new section is “Labor”. The following brews were available on tap at the time of writing:

• Mango Bay – Mango Milk Shake Pale Ale
• Jam 72 – West Coast IPA
• Stardust – New England IPA
• Tokyo Lemonade – Yuza White Beer
• Helldorado – Double Black IPA
• LD 50 Heureka! – Hop Burst IPA
• Smooth Hoperator – New England IPA

I tried the Mango Bay, Smooth Hoperator and Helldorado. My favourite was the Mango Bay, a fantastic smooth beer with a little mango taste. This is definitely NOT a fruit beer so you won’t have the feeling that you drink Mango lemonade instead of a beer. If you would like to have your drink served in a proper beer glass you sadly have to pay a 1000HUF deposit as many people would “forget” to bring back the lovely craft beer glass.

Thanks to this new setup it is worth going to Szimpla Kert again… even for locals 🙂
