Thailand: Getting an internet enabled Prepaid Sim Card for your mobile.

We plan to work and keep in touch with friends and family throughout our journey it is very important to have internet on our mobile phones. AIS has a pretty good Edge/Gprs system I was able to check my mails anytime while We were travelling from Bangkok to Ko Samet. The connection speed is also very good it is similar to 3G back home.

The prepaid sim did cost us 300Bath each + 100Bath call credit. Calling home is very expensive so I managed to empty my call credit in just 3 minutes 😀

The internet service had to be separately enabled. 50 Bath buys you 30Megabytes of traffic which is enough if you are using mobile applications like facebook or download your mails using pop3 or Imap. If you browse the Web this credit will run out in no time.

Since this is a special tourist prepaid card it has to be topped up every month with at least 100 Bath otherwise the sim will stop working.
